Welcome
St Thomas More Catholic High School is one of the best performing schools in Cheshire. Our most recent inspection by Shrewsbury Diocese rated us as an Outstanding Catholic school. In March 2020 Ofsted reported ‘Many [pupils] spoke of feeling privileged to belong to the school which they described as being like a family.’ The pupils’ praised the quality of education that the school provides, they cherish the school’s reputation in the community and would recommend this school without hesitation.
What makes St Thomas More stand out from other schools is our commitment to the young people in our care, a commitment that encourages and inspires every child to fulfil their God given potential and flourish. We encourage our students to love learning, participate fully in the life of our school and embrace the many opportunities that are on offer.
All outstanding schools need to ensure that their young people are provided with a vibrant and stimulating curriculum that meets the needs of an ever-changing world. We are committed to providing our students with the necessary skills to achieve academic and spiritual growth so that they may truly thrive, both socially and emotionally. Our inclusive ethos ensures this. ‘Pupils individuality is celebrated.’ Ofsted 2020
As a Catholic school we provide our students with a moral compass based on Catholic Social Teaching that supports their growth and development. It is essential that our students are encouraged to have enquiring minds, ask questions and form their own opinions. We are blessed with very close links with our four feeder parishes St Anne’s Nantwich, St Gabriel’s Alsager, St Mary’s Crewe and St Winefride’s Sandbach. These links enable our communities to join together regularly and allow our students to experience prayer, worship, charity and social events with the local community.
The pastoral care at St Thomas More ensures that our students grow into well-rounded, reflective, caring and thoughtful young people ready to take their place in society. ‘Leaders fundamental aim is to prepare pupils to be well rounded, responsible citizens in modern society.’ Ofsted 2020
St Thomas More’s is a happy and vibrant school that serves its community. Our academic tradition fosters a culture of enquiry and creativity. We value curiosity and thoughtfulness and we are ambitious for our students to achieve success whatever their aspirations.
Our prospectus and website can only convey a small insight into our wonderful school. I would encourage you to visit St Thomas More and find out more about our welcoming inclusive school; meet our inspiring staff and fantastic students. ‘Pupils told us that their teachers really care about them.’ Ofsted 2020
I look forward to welcoming you personally.
