Intent

“When I consider the heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is mankind that you are mindful of them, human beings, that you care for them?  (Psalm 8:3)

‘Past, present, future, explore the human experience.’  We believe in encouraging all pupils to be the very best version of themselves by identifying and realising who God meant them to be.

Through the learning of Humanities, we teach young people to understand others through their languages, histories and cultures.  By learning the wider context of people’s lives, we sharpen the focus of pupils understanding of the world.  Humanities pupils build skills in writing, reading, analysis, numeracy and communication.  They teach us to reason about being human and to ask questions about our world.

We endeavour to teach our pupils about the interconnectivity and complexity of the world in which we live.  Humanities will open doors of transferrable skills which prepares pupils for their lifelong journey.

Pupil Affirmation

Business Studies is very interesting and it’s different to all my other subjects which like. It’s a very important subject as it prepares us for later life unlike many other subjects.”

History is important because people need to understand the past to understand the future and the present.  We teach history to develop people’s knowledge of the past and help them understand how it came to be.  History is great because it’s very interesting and fun, also it opens up great career paths
